Hey!

Welcome to my website! I am Rebecca White Varner of Clear Creek Pottery.

I am a Clay and Knit Artist and live in Jasper Alabama close to Clear Creek. My family has lived here for generations. Being 1/2 American Indian (Cherokee and Creek). I feel that art/craft/clay/fiber is in my blood. I am inspired so much by nature and my surroundings that I feel it in  everything I create.

I love to work with clay because through it I can express myself without speaking-when there are no words and because on some level it completes who I am. 

My goal as a production potter/clay artist is to design and make useful and beautiful pots. It's my priority to continue to study and research all that I can about my craft, and as I learn more, I hope to give back by teaching others. Like most artists, I am always seeing areas where I can improve my work. Ever moving toward the goal of reaching my full potential, I want to incorporate who I am and how I feel about my life and the world around me into every handmade creation. 

My current work is a reflection of my love of Archeology and History. I want to make pieces that feel like they have just been dug up from the earth from a ancient civilization and have a story to tell. Each a unique piece of the ancient puzzle of who these people were.. how they lived and worked. I want each piece to be a surprise yet feel strangly familiar.....
